Wilson Trail
Sections 1 & 2
The first two sections of the Wilson Trail cross Hong Kong Island from south to north. These sections take you through the heart of Hong Kong Island where at times you feel like you are in a wilderness far away from the big city that surrounds you.
Distance: 11 km | Time: 4.5 hrs | Difficulty: 3
Sections 3 & 4
Section 3 is unique for the long trails. Although not too much of a climb this ridge is much underestimated in our view as it has some amazing city views. Section 4 is a lot tougher. Once you get to the top things get a lot easier with great views and a paved road for much of the way through to the Sha Tin Pass.
Distance: 18.3 km | Time: 7 hrs | Difficulty: 4
Sections 5 & 6
Section five is a gentle gradient and pleasant valley walk with lots of chances to see birds, monkeys and wild boar. Unlike the MacLehose trail that goes straight up the road, the Wilson takes on smugglers ridge in the Kam Shan Country Park before finishing at the Shing Mun Reservoir.
Distance: 12.7 km | Time: 5 hrs | Difficulty: 2
Sections 7 & 8
There are lots of good photo opportunities here with stark trees protruding from the water. From Lead Mine Pass continue town towards Tai Po along a forested path to the outskirts of Tai Po. Here the trail loops around following a ridge with great views over Tai Po and the Tolo Habour.
Distance: 16.5 km | Time: 6 hrs | Difficulty: 2
Sections 9 & 10
In this final episode of the Wilson Trail series we take on sections 9 and 10. Starting at Tai Wo MTR station, climbing up to Cloudy Hill and continuing along to Wong Leng. This last walk is very long and tough so make sure to have plenty of supplies and start early.
Distance: 23.3 km | Time: 8 hrs | Difficulty: 5
