Phoenix Hill Trail, Zhuhai

Just across the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge lies Phoenix Hill Trail, a hidden gem in Zhuhai offering a full day of scenic adventure. This 12-kilometer hike begins with gentle undulating paths and panoramic views of the bay, before ramping up into a steep 400-meter climb that rewards hikers with sweeping vistas over the Greater Bay Area.

Though the first half feels deceptively easy, the second section tests your endurance with rugged descents, technical trails, and a series of smaller peaks that challenge even seasoned hikers. With no water stations along the way and few fellow trekkers, this trail demands preparation—but delivers unforgettable views and a true sense of escape.

DIRECTIONS

1.  Start at the trailhead near the Phoenix Hill entrance gate and begin walking up the concrete path.

2.  Follow the undulating trail as it winds through low hills with views of the bay and city skyline.

5.  Descend briefly to a pass before beginning the main climb of the day.

6.  Ascend roughly 400 meters to reach the summit pavilion overlooking the reservoir and Greater Bay Area.

7.  From the pavilion, follow the dirt trail down alongside a water pipe for a more adventurous descent.

8.  Navigate through bushy terrain and descend to a second ridgeline with three smaller peaks.

9.  Cross the final set of hills and arrive at the elevated sky trail.

10.  Turn right on the sky trail and follow it down to the road where you can catch a taxi back to the port.
