Songhua Lake
Lake Songhua Ski Resort, just outside Jilin City, is one of the largest and most versatile ski areas in the province, offering 55 km of slopes with something for every level of skier. With 40% of pistes dedicated to beginners and another 40% for intermediates, it is an ideal destination for families and mixed-ability groups, while still offering black runs, snow parks, and forest skiing for those seeking more of a challenge. The runs are notably wide and varied, with greens and blues that include turns, twists, and small jumps, making even the easier slopes engaging. Two summits provide sweeping views over the surrounding mountains and city, and the resort is well-equipped with modern ski facilities, efficient rentals, and plenty of variety on the slopes.
Off the snow, Lake Songhua’s ski village is vibrant and welcoming, with Japanese and local dining options, bakeries, bars, and spas. Non-skiers and families can enjoy a kids’ center, cultural activities such as ice fishing and visiting Manchu communities, or simply relax in the Prince Hotel spa with outdoor baths. Night skiing is also popular, with city residents coming out to take advantage of the well-lit pistes after dark. Affordable packages are available through early bookings on the WeChat app, and international visitors benefit from English-language services. With its combination of extensive slopes, lively village life, and plenty of off-slope activities, Lake Songhua offers one of the most complete ski experiences in Jilin Province.
