High West and The Peak

This is a familiar route with a twist that takes in two Peak views and up 160 meters of elevation. It is a mix of flat paths and trails.

Starting at The Peak Galleria, you’ll take in a peaceful walk along Harlech Road’s Morning Trail, then head off piste for a rougher climb up to High West for a panoramic view over the West Lamma Channel and Kowloon. For the second view, you’ll head back down to Lugard Road to take in Hong Kong’s most popular view of the city at sunset.

DIRECTIONS

  1. Take a bus or taxi up to the Peak Galleria.
  2. Set off along Harlech Road and continue on until you reach the turnoff for Lugard Road.
  3. Turn left at the pavilion and follow the signposts up to High West.
  4. Keep heading up the steps, some of which are quite steep.
  5. At the top is a trig point with sweeping views. Look out for a narrow path on the left side of the platform. This will take you down to another spectacular view.
  6. Return back to Harlech Road but take the right turn to continue on along Lugard Road and you will come to several stretches of viewing areas out over Victoria Harbor.
  7. Carry on to return to the starting point.
  8. If you fancy walking back down to Central, follow signs to the Old Peak Road which is a steep but speedy route back down to street level.
