South Korea

Hiking is the number one past time in South Korea, and for good reason. The country has some amazing trails with great infrastructure. We explore.

Running Seoul

In the first of a new series DJ starts in Seoul, the capital of South Korea, where he goes on a long run to acquaint himself with the layout of the city, while reminiscing about tackling the tallest peak, the Hallasan volcano.

Bukhansan National Park

The Guinness Book of World Records lists Bukhansan, just north of Seoul, as the “Most Visited National Park per Unit Area”. We go to see what all the fuss is about, scaling the highest peak and lining up with hundreds of other hikers to capture the amazing views the peak affords of the mega city below.

Seoraksan National Park

Most South Koreans vote for the Seoraksan National Park when it comes to a question about the best trails for hikers in the country. DJ and Yoon set off to find out what all the fuss is about and take on a 7-km valley walk.

The Haeparang Trail

DJ and Yoon move off the mountains and over to the coast to take on a short section of the 770-kilometer Haeparang coastal trail.

Chiaksan Mountain

In the last episode of our Korea series DJ and Yoon get up at 5.30 to climb above the clouds and look out from Chiaksan Mountain. It’s just two hours from Seoul and a welcome retreat from the crowds.
