Back to Wan Chai from Chai Wan

This walk feels like a victory lap as you have broken the back of the coastal trail and have one long flat walk in mainly along smooth promenades.

It starts with a bit of a faff around Chai Wan working your way from the MTR station slowly down to the promenade at Shau Kei Wan. Once there its a pleasant stroll along the promenade to North Point where once again you are forced off the water front along busy roads through Fortress Hill before finally getting back on the newly built promenade with lots of distractions, along to Wanchai.

DIRECTIONS

Get to the start:

  1. Starting from the Chai Wan MTR walk down Chai Wan road towards the sea, turning right on A Kung Ngam Road.
  2. Reaching the end of the road turn left under the highway and into the Aldrich Bay Promenade at Shau Kei Wan.
  3. Stay on the promenade to the end then cross through the ferry terminal to reach Quarry Bay Park always trying to keep as close to the shoreline as possible.
  4. After another long promenade stretch you are forced away from the water onto Java road which you follow up until Tin Chui Street which will take you back to another short stretch of promenade.
  5. Once again you are forced back onto Java road which you follow one last time to Gordon Road, where you turn and then join the promenade for the last time at the back of Victoria Park.
  6. This will take you back to the start in Wanchai where you can return via the Exhibition Centre MTR.
