Jingyuetan
Jingyuetan Ski Resort, located just 30 minutes from Changchun Airport, is part of the scenic Jingyuetan National Park and is widely regarded as one of the best places in Jilin Province for beginners to learn to ski. With affordable prices (as low as 100 RMB per day), safe, well-groomed slopes, and a clear separation between beginner and intermediate areas, it provides the perfect training ground for newcomers before moving on to larger resorts like Songhua Lake or Beidahu. The resort offers an 800-meter run that can be split between a 500-meter intermediate section and a 300-meter beginner slope, complete with crash mats, wide pistes, and gentle gradients designed to build confidence. Although advanced skiers may find the terrain limited, the accessibility and value make it a standout choice for first-time skiers and families.
Beyond the slopes, Jingyuetan offers a wide range of activities that set it apart from other resorts in the region. Visitors can enjoy forest hikes, ice sculptures around the frozen lake, husky sleigh rides, quad bikes, rally cars on ice, and even cross-country skiing, with the park hosting the internationally renowned Vasaloppet race each year. The resort is compact and easy to navigate, with quick gear rentals and shuttle buses linking different ski areas, though food options are limited, so bringing your own is recommended. With its combination of affordable skiing, beginner-friendly facilities, and unique winter activities, Jingyuetan is an excellent choice for those starting their ski journey or looking for a fun winter day out in Jilin.
